Computing at Northfields Infants and Nursery School

We aim to: -

  • Give pupils opportunity to experience and work with a range of different computing/ IT equipment.
  • Use technology purposefully to create, organise, store, manipulate and retrieve digital content
  • Recognise common uses of information technology beyond school
  • Use technology safely and respectfully, keeping personal information private.
  • Help pupils to develop understanding of computing to include algorithms, simple programs, logical reasoning and prediction.
  • Teach pupils to be able to use their computing skills across the curriculum and to inform and enhance life-long learning.
  • Teach pupils to create and debug simple programs

Our children will experience

Using computers with keyboards to learn to type.

Technology

Children recognise that a range of technology is used in places such as homes and schools. They select and use technology for particular purposes.

KS1 –

Pupils should be taught to:

  • Understand what algorithms are; how they are implemented as programs on digital devices; and that programs execute by following precise and unambiguous instructions.
  • Create and debug simple programs
  • Use logical reasoning to predict the behaviour of simple programs
  • Use technology purposefully to create, organise, store, manipulate and retrieve digital content
  • Recognise common uses of information technology beyond school
  • Use technology safely and respectfully, keeping personal information private; identify where to go for help and support when they have concerns about content or contact on the internet or other online technologies.
