The School Council
The School Council is made up of class representatives from each class from Year 1 and Year 2, with reception members joining in the summer term. The children in each class vote for the two pupils they would like to represent them at the School Council meetings.
The Council, with Mr Albon meet each half term. At each meeting the Mr Albon will take the minutes, supported by year 2 council members. At School council meetings issues are discussed that have been raised by each class and the focus of the term in school such as reading, economic well-being and keeping healthy. Membership and Elections
Any pupil of Northfield’s Infants and Nursery school can put themselves forward to be elected democratically. Each candidate will be given time to think of a speech to present to their class which will explain why they think they would be the best person to represent the views of their class. Then the classes vote for the 2 pupils who they feel would be the best candidate writing down the name of 1 boy and 1 girl.
Meetings
School council meetings are held once every half term. Children discuss the item for discussion and then put forward ideas and suggestions which they will then take back to their class.
